INDICATIONS FOR MASTOPEXY

PREPARATORY STAGE
BEFORE THE MASTOPEXY OPERATION
- First, you come for a consultation at our clinic in Lviv.
- Taking into account your wishes, the plastic surgeon prepare a detailed plan of the operation just for you and chooses the optimal mastopexy technique depending on the degree of changes and the desired result.
- A plastic surgeon can tell you which incisions can be used to correct the shape of the breast in your particular case only after a detailed consultation. You can also see a complete 3D modeling of your future breasts using the Vectra XT diagnostic system.
- Since the mammary glands are women`s important functional organs, the doctor has to assess all possible risks. Therefore, before the operation, our patients must take mammography or ultrasound examination (which is included in the price of the operation) and take clinical tests. Based on the images and the results of the tests, the doctor must make sure that there are no contraindications to breast lift surgery.
BREAST LIFT TECHNIQUES
There are different techniques for breast lift plastic surgery.
In each specific case, the method is chosen individually.
⇒ Periareolar mastopexy: this technique is used for small and medium-sized breasts. The incision is made in the shape of a crescent (semicircle) along the upper edge of the areola of the nipple.
⇒ Circumareolar mastopexy: if a significant amount of skin needs to be removed, and the sagging is not severe, this technique is used. The incision is made around the areola. The operation is carried out in the same way if it is necessary to raise the nipple by more than 2 cm.
⇒ Vertical mastopexy: this technique involves making an incision around the areola plus an incision from the areola to the inframammary fold. This is the most versatile method for different degrees of changes in the shape of the breast and the amount of excess skin.
⇒ T-shaped mastopexy. A technique with an incision in the form of an inverted letter T, which goes from the lower edge of the areola, is used in cases of strong sagging of the breast.
PROCESS OF MASTOPEXY OPERATION
- Breast lift is made under general (gas) anesthesia.
- Through a small incision, the surgeon removes excess skin and fatty tissue and, if necessary, moves the nipple to the required position. Then cosmetic sutures are placed on the incisions.
- After the mastopexy operation, the volume of the breast changes slightly: the nipple is pulled up, excess skin is removed, the tissue of the gland is redistributed in such a way as to return the breast to its previous shape.
- Basically, breast lift is performed without the installation of implants, but in some cases it can be combined with the installation of endoprostheses.

If possible, the function of lactation can be preserved. However, if you plan to become pregnant and breastfeed in the coming years, the effect of mastopexy will not last long and your breasts may lose their shape again. It is better to go to the clinic for a breast lift a year after the end of lactation. If you plan to lose weight, significant weight loss, then breast lift is also recommended to be performed after this period.
POSTOPERATIVE PERIOD AND REHABILITATION
AFTER A BREAST LIFT
- We offer you new wards, equipped with everything you need, as well as three meals a day for a comfortable stay at the Genesis clinic. Our patients stay in the inpatient clinic from 1 to 3 days after the operation. Before discharge, the doctor gives recommendations on rehabilitation, regimen and breast care.
- After discharge, we recommend our patients to rest at home for 7 days, after which tAhey can return to their usual lifestyle, but avoiding load on the arms and pectoral muscles for a month and a half.
- Directly on the operating table after mastopexy, the surgeon puts special compression underwear on the patient. A compression bra will help reduce swelling, fix the breast in an anatomically correct raised position and reduce the risk of deformation and separation of surgical sutures. Compression underwear also helps reduce pain, massages gland tissue, improves lymph drainage, and therefore speeds up the healing process. A compression bra must be worn for 4–6 weeks after surgery.
- Sutures are removed 5 days after mastopexy. Complete healing and formation of a new silhouette occur after 3 months. The scars will become inconspicuous and acquire the usual natural color of the skin in half a year to a year after the operation.
